Luxury Psychiatry Clinic offers psychiatry services for veterans in Chicago who want to use their TriWest insurance

At our Chicago clinic, we offer outpatient psychiatry and behavioral health services specifically for patients using TRICARE administered by TriWest. Our care is designed for military members, retired service members, and eligible dependents, providing a safe, confidential place for every stage of mental health treatment. Subject to TRICARE coverage guidelines, you can choose between in-person visits or secure telepsychiatry care to fit your unique needs and lifestyle. We are proud to support the military community with thoughtful, high-quality care close to home.

Understanding TRICARE

TRICARE is the Department of Defense’s official health care program for military-connected families. It primarily covers:

  • Active-duty service members
  • Retired military personnel
  • Eligible spouses and dependent adolescents/children

While it provides nationwide coverage, TRICARE runs regionally through major contractors like TriWest, ensuring families have access to networked care wherever they’re stationed or settled.

Who Is Eligible for TRICARE?

Eligibility for TRICARE depends on your service history and family relationship, including:

  • Military retirees, usually after 20 years of recognized service
  • Those medically retired due to significant service-connected disabilities (PDRL or TDRL retirement)
  • Retirees from the Guard or Reserve with qualifying time
  • Spouses and dependents recognized as family of qualifying service members

We can review your coverage and explain eligibility whenever you’re ready to seek help.

TRICARE in the Western Region (Chicago) – TriWest

Military families, retirees, and dependents using TRICARE in Chicago should know that, as of 2025, the city became part of the Western Region. This change affected which company manages local TRICARE benefits. TriWest Healthcare Alliance now handles TRICARE policies and networks in Chicago, so it’s important to understand their systems when seeking mental health care through our clinic.

How TriWest Organizes Chicago’s Provider Network

TriWest is responsible for building and maintaining a local network of behavioral health specialists, psychiatrists, and other TRICARE-eligible professionals right here in Chicago, Illinois. This means when military members or their families need support for mental health conditions, they’ll work with in-network providers who have been screened and approved for TRICARE patients through TriWest.

Processing Referrals and Authorizations

Many psychiatric and therapy services aren’t “walk-in” – they may require formal referrals or pre-authorization before starting new treatment or making significant changes. The TriWest system handles approvals, so they decide whether to sign off on medication management, therapy, or more advanced interventions.

TriWest Healthcare Alliance’s systems affect all Chicago offices that provide TRICARE mental health care or psychiatry services. Having a clear understanding of how TRICARE works can help you avoid billing surprises and make your mental health journey easier.

Using TRICARE and Medicare Together

Once you turn 65, TRICARE for Life (TFL) helps coordinate health care with Medicare, ensuring seamless coverage for military retirees and their eligible family members. To receive TRICARE for Life benefits, older adults must enroll in Medicare Part A and Part B; this is a crucial requirement, as you aren’t eligible for TFL without both.

With this setup, Medicare will usually pay for covered services first as your primary insurance. After that, TRICARE steps in as a secondary payer, covering many of the remaining eligible costs. For covered outpatient mental health services, this arrangement makes high-quality care affordable with little to no out-of-pocket expense.

Psychiatric and Mental Health Services for TriWest Patients

Meeting the mental health needs of TriWest patients demands a thoughtful, evidence-based approach for all life transitions, struggles, and diagnoses. Our years of experience in psychiatric and psychotherapy services give Chicago’s military communities a secure path to long-term well-being.

Patients dealing with mental health concerns, like mood disorders, autism, eating disorders, or personality disorders, can count on comprehensive medication management from our board-certified team. Here’s how we can assist:

Initial Comprehensive Evaluation

Before recommending any medication, each patient receives a careful, evidence-based psychiatric assessment. This process identifies key symptoms for a range of diagnoses, such as ADHD, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), substance use disorder, schizophrenia, or other mood disorders. The goal is to thoroughly understand your health history, life circumstances, personal strengths, and daily challenges.

Individualized Treatment Planning

Once a diagnosis is clarified, our clinic creates a tailored medication treatment plan with you at the center. This always considers which medications are best for your symptoms. Your health plan is factored into our recommendations so that prescriptions are practical, affordable, and hassle-free.

Safety, Monitoring, and Ongoing Collaboration

Medication care doesn’t end with a prescription. Instead, our team provides regular in-person or telepsychiatry follow-up to check in on how you’re feeling, manage any side effects, and help you accomplish goals at your pace. We welcome all questions or concerns regarding your medication or other care.

Adjustments and Updates

As your life or symptoms change, your psychiatrist helps adapt your care each step of the way. We consult the most recent research, discuss your symptoms, and plan with you to figure out what’s working and what might need to be tweaked.

You will always be supported and fully involved in every part of your recovery or personal growth journey.

Mental health care isn’t one-size-fits-all, which is why our clinic also offers psychotherapy built around evidence-based and person-centered modalities:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Patients work through distorted thoughts or unhealthy habits to treat OCD, work anxiety, depression, and challenging habits.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness

DBT can give support for intense emotions and relationships, useful for young adults and adults when dealing with ongoing trauma. Mindfulness techniques can improve self-esteem and promote balance during stressful periods.

Person-Centered Counseling

Patients facing life transitions related to career, housing, education, or relationships will find the flexibility they need to develop long-lasting coping skills. We pride ourselves on tailoring in-person and telepsychiatry sessions to suit busy schedules, helping everyone feel understood and cared for. Whether you need individual or family therapy or help with anger management, we can assist.
