What We Treat

Anxiety

Anxiety is characterized by excessive, uncontrollable worry over events and activities and potential negative outcomes. The anxiety and worry must cause significant distress or interfere with the individual’s daily life, occupational, academic, or social functioning to meet the diagnosis. Panic Disorder reflects the experience of sudden panic symptoms (generally out of the blue, without specific triggers) in combination with persistent, lingering worry that panic symptoms will return and fear of those panic symptoms. Symptoms include recurrent expected or unexpected panic attacks that can last from a few minutes to up to an hour.

Mood Disorders

Affective disorders are a set of psychiatric disorders, also called mood disorders.

The main types of affective disorders are depression and bipolar disorder. Symptoms vary by individual and can range from mild to severe.

A psychiatrist or other trained mental health professional can diagnose an affective disorder. This is done with a psychiatric evaluation.

Affective disorders can be disruptive to your life. However, there are effective treatments available, including both medication and psychotherapy.

Depression

Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Also called major depressive disorder or clinical depression, it affects how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems. You may have trouble doing normal day-to-day activities, and sometimes you may feel as if life isn’t worth living. Depression can affect your concentration, energy, appetite, and sleep. You may feel hopeless or helpless.  Most people with depression feel better with medication, psychotherapy or both. Transcranial magnetic stimulation TMS is an FDA approved treatment for major depression covered by most commercial insurance plans.

Sleep Disorders

Sleep disorder refers to conditions that affect sleep quality, timing, or duration and impact a person’s ability to properly function while they are awake. These disorders can contribute to other medical problems, and some may also be symptoms of underlying mental health issues.

You have trouble falling or remaining asleep. You find it difficult to stay awake during the day. There are imbalances in your circadian rhythm that interfere with a healthy sleep schedule. You are prone to unusual behaviors that disrupt your sleep Any of these signs could indicate a sleep disorder.

Seasonal Affective Disorder

Seasonal Affective Disorder is a form of depression also known as SAD, seasonal depression, or winter depression. In the Diagnostic Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), this disorder is identified as a type of depression – Major Depressive Disorder with Seasonal Pattern.

People with SAD experience mood changes and symptoms similar to depression. The symptoms usually occur during the fall and winter months when there is less sunlight and usually improve with the arrival of spring. The most difficult months for people with SAD in the United States tend to be January and February

Medication Management

Medication management- Having scheduled visits with your licensed provider to discuss medication risks, benefit and alternatives to your treatment. Medication management refills are done at the discretion of the licensed provider. Refills are not done without an appointment with the provider. The provider wants to check in our patients to ensure the safety of the patient and the progress of the treatment plan.

TMS Therapy

TMS therapy is an innovative approach to treating depression. The non systemic and noninvasive therapy is a life changing opportunity for those who have been unsuccessful reaching remission through the the use of antidepressants. During a treatment session, a magnet similar in strength to that used in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine is used to stimulate nerve cells in the area of the brain thought to control mood. These magnetic pulses may have a positive effect on the brain’s neurotransmitter levels, making long-term remission possible.

Ketamine Therapy (Spravato)

Luxury Psychiatry | Psychiatry Services

Spravato (also known as Esketamine, and referred to more popularly as ketamine) is a medication that has been approved by the FDA for treatment-resistant depression. It is intended for use in combination with an oral antidepressant.
